Truly my favorite piece I own. A very versatile short that has filled many blank spaces in my active and leisure life. The alpha short kept me warm as a mid-layer on colder lift access days and works wonderfully as an outer layer while on windy ridges or summits while transitioning. Getting them on or off is easy with the full length double zips, and with the two snap buttons on either hip the adjustability is great. I found myself not only wearing these while skiing but around the house, walking the dog, at apres, and hanging out at camp. I cannot recommend the Alpha Short enough!
Perfect to wear under a shell pant or bib. Keeps your mid section warm. No need for a base layer underneath these bad boys. They also get some great looks apres!
Love these shorts. I’ve owned many different brands of insulated shorts but the strafe version take the cake.
I run pretty hot when snowboarding in the backcountry or the resort and typically wear just a single baselayer under my shell pants. This can be problematic when large temperature swings are expected during the day, especially on long tours when I have an early morning start but will still be out in the hotter part of the afternoon. These insulated overpants have been a great solution. On very cold mornings I'll start a tour with these over my shell pants (you won't win any style points this way but who cares) and zip them off once it's warmed up enough. I also wear them when resort riding, over a baselayer, on really cold days and love that I can zip them off without having to take off my boots if it gets hot later in the day. They pack down nice and small to carry in the pack when not worn. Highly recommended!
Such an amazing layer. Perfect for any approach day on the snowmobile. Once you're ski touring, the full leg zips make the shorts super easy to remove without having to drop trousers. Also amazing on cold hill days. I have a hard time NOT wearing these shorts now! Stoked to use them in the summer on the cold west coast as a post-surf kit too.
