Strafe Outerwear was founded in 2009, in the heart of Colorado, to help bridge the gap between high-performance, technical products and a fun, freeride-focused approach to skiing and snowboarding. Starting with an obsession for the Highland Bowl, we realized that to stay comfortable moving efficiently and skiing hard all day, we needed apparel with breathable, waterproof constructions and snow-specific features and fits.
Since the days of our first prototypes, we’ve been continually inspired by the demands, culture, and lifestyle that comes with spending time in the mountains. We’re driven to create intentional features and designs for products that we want to wear - and that we hope others will wear too - enabling us to comfortably and responsibly recreate, work, and do whatever we choose to do outside. As a small, independent brand creating meaningful apparel on a sustainable scale, we strive to contribute to the culture and community of the mountains.
We’re building a brand that means a lot to us, and hopefully, to the mountain community and to you. We invite you join us in this process.
At Strafe Outerwear, we truly believe in the ski town lifestyle. Not in promoting or selling it, but in actually working and living it - in belonging to a place that allows us to breathe fresh air, get outside every day, and, during our favorite season, get 100+ days shredding a year. Our home base, Aspen, Colorado, also happens to be the perfect product development and testing arena.
We’re a small team of founders, artists, problem-solvers, and most importantly, mountain fanatics. We get shit done so we can play. Our office is right at the base of Aspen Highlands. In the Winter, we’re a stone's throw from the ski lift and 5 minutes from the Maroon Bells access road. In two lift rides and a short hike, you can be on top of the Highland Bowl in blower conditions. In the Summer, we’re mere steps away from trails, creeks, and a short drive can get you to any portal for the playground that is the White River National Forest.
We produce goods on a small, sustainable scale that doesn’t flood the market with cheap, underperforming apparel. More than anything, we want to celebrate the beauty of skiing and snowboarding and contribute to its longevity. That means minimizing our environmental impact, building bridges for inclusivity, supporting the fun and weird niches of our niche, and simply helping to make the world a better place.
Working at Strafe no day is the same. As a part of our small team, we will rely on and trust you to make decisions that will help us make incremental positive changes for the brand and world around us. We encourage discussion, different perspectives, and collaboration. We’re not afraid to take risks, and we believe in the people that make Strafe Outerwear a reality. Because at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.
